What should knights look like in my story?

My story takes place in village during medieval times. The village is in a forest and most of the villagers act barbaric and crazy. Also what should the religious people look like? They are like knights except they use religious protection and special armor that has been blessed and stuff. What should their armor look like? What should their weapons look like? Also the village symbol is a shield with a cross on it so i already know what the shields look like but i might change the symbol later. Thanks fo any answers
