California Vs. Texas during the Civil War confrontation.?

I have read that California and Texas duked it out during the civil war. CA decision to help the union was a hard blow to Texas and other Confederate States. Texas and California faught each other with Texas suffering defeat from the Californian companies. Colonel Carlton pushed his Californians towards N.M and Texas and then had them stationed there until victory. There are reports that The US had Californian troops until 1965 in nearby areas near Texas and N.M to contain any Southern Threats. If the Deep South ever plans to claim Independence will the Gov use California manpower to contain the South again?.
